                       Rough Rider Team Invades Barstow!
Saturday, October 3rd.  The Rough Rider Race team, decended upon the desert town of
Barstow, Ca. ready for their first meeting, in full battle dress.   Drivers, Barbara Stone and Crystal Shackleford had yet to be behind the wheel of the BFGoodrich Jeep in an open desert setting, nor
had either been on the course. None of the ladies knew  how fast, slow, dusty, rocky or bumpy the course may be.
.
Practice  went very well. Everything from getting in and out, to, what to do in case of an emergency
was brought up.  This may be called 'Powder Puff', but make no mistake, this team and hundreds
of others are coming to race and are taking the racing, as well as track safety, very seriously.
Lap times were taken for the first pre-run,  however, there was nothing 'pre-run' about the
times. These ladies got in and threw it down! Laps were taken with both myself in the passenger seat, as well as with co-driver, Emilie Kelty. Mean while, co-driver Ellen Utschig was busy at the position drawing being held at the Slash X Cafe at noon.  Ellen was pleased to radio us our starting position of first off the line in our class!  Come on out and watch the BFGoodrich Jeep, take on the rest of the Jeep's, October 10th.      Starting time is 8 am!

This year's event will take place in sunny Barstow,California, on Friday and Saturday, October 9th - 10th 2009. Everyone's welcome.                 About the race vehicle chosen
The vehicle chosen for the race by this team is a stock 2 door, Jeep Cherokee. Just like the one you take the kids to soccer in! The Jeep was chosen for it's tough exterior and proven driveline components.
But don't kid yourself,  after   adding a  race cage, some gussets,  tough BFGoodrich  tires and a few other safety items, these off road WORTHY vehicles become full blown race machines capable of some serious flight time, like the one shown here.
You can get started in the family oriented fun of road racing by checking out these entry level race machines at  jeepspeed.com AND come out and talk to us face to face at the Powder Puff race in Barstow Ca. on Oct 9th for contingency and Oct. 10th for race day. We'll be happy to answer ANY questions you may have about getting started. Rumor has it there is a kit that can turn your DAILY driver into a full race machine AND you can keep the air conditioner on and the windows up!
